Sourced through our relationship with the Honduran Coffee Alliance.

Hubert Geraldo Nicolas Lopez has built his career around a single purpose: helping Honduran coffee reach its highest potential. As a third-generation coffee producer, Agricultural Engineer, and IHCAFE Certified Cupper, he has dedicated more than two decades to improving coffee quality - not only on his own farms, but throughout the entire Marcala region.

During the 2025-2026 harvest, Hubert continued strengthening his leadership within Honduran Coffee Alliance. Beyond managing Finca Tatascan, he remained one of HCA's principal quality specialists, leading sensory evaluations, supporting lot selection, and overseeing quality control throughout the collection and export process.

His contribution extends far beyond his own production. Since partnering with HCA in 2022, Hubert has consistently supplied specialty coffees for export programs while simultaneously helping evaluate and prepare hundreds of microlots produced by fellow coffee farmers - an essential part of HCA's commitment to transparency, consistency, and quality.

Like many producers in Marcala, Hubert continues adapting to climate variability, rising production costs, and labor shortages. At the same time, he keeps investing in quality improvement, post-harvest innovation, and producer education, believing that knowledge is one of the most valuable tools for strengthening specialty coffee.
